一、advice- advise
1. advice/əd’vaɪs/ 是名词，表示给某人的建议。advice 是不可数名词，不说 advices 或 an advice，而是用词组a piece of advice 表示一条建议。
she promised to follow his advice。她答应听取他的意见。
Could I give you a piece of advice? 我可以给你一条建议吗？
2. advise/əd’vaɪz/。是动词，表示建议某人做某事。
He advised her to see a doctor.他建议她去看医生。
二、affect- effect
1.affect [ə’fekt]是动词,表示影响某人使其发生变化,一般都是消极变化。
These problems could affect my work.这些问题会影响我的工作
2.effect [ɪ’fekt]是名词,表示某物存在或发生是由于其他事的发生。
也可以表示某物对其他事物的影响。
They are still feeling the effects of the war.他们仍然能感受到战争带来的影响。
Her words had a strange effect on me. 他的话对我产生了奇怪的影响。
三、afford
1.can afford 表示有足够的金钱买某物，can't afford 则含义相反。
It's too expensive-we can't afford it.它大贵了，我们买不起。
When will we be able to afford a new TV？我们什么时候能买得起一台新电视？
2.afford 和 can, could 或者 be able to 连用。
我们不说 someone affords something.
不要说 something can be afforded，而是说 people can afford it.
We need to build houses that people can afford.我们需要建造人们买得起的房子。
